Biography

Mabel Albertson was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Albertson's earliest roles were in film, including "So This Is Love" (1953) with Kathryn Grayson, the drama "She's Back on Broadway" (1953) with Virginia Mayo and "About Mrs. Leslie" (1954). She also appeared in "Black Widow" (1954), the Marjorie Main comedy "Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki" (1955) and the dramatic adaptation "The Cobweb" (1955) with Richard Widmark. She kept working in film throughout the fifties, starring in the Glenn Ford crime flick "Ransom" (1956), the dramatic adaptation "The Long, Hot Summer" (1958) with Paul Newman and the drama "The Female Animal" (1958) with Hedy Lamarr. She also appeared in "Home Before Dark" (1958). Nearing the end of her career, she continued to act in the comedy adaptation "Period of Adjustment" (1962) with Anthony Franciosa, the Sean Connery dramatic adaptation "A Fine Madness" (1966) and the Robert Redford comedic adaptation "Barefoot in the Park" (1967). She also appeared in "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" (1970) and "What's Up Doc?" (1972) with Barbra Streisand. Albertson more recently appeared in "Pete 'n Tillie" (CBS, 1973-74). Albertson passed away in September 1982 at the age of 81.
